About AEC:

Are you an Australian Citizen eager to seize a remarkable opportunity to work with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC)? The AEC plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of Australia's electoral system, and they are seeking an UX designer, who will engage with both business and technical areas to design intuitive user interfaces and bring them to life. You must be solution focused and support an Agile team in solving complex user and business problems. 

You will work within the Indigo program and will assist the team to deliver positive outcomes for the program.

 

Position Overview: 

The role will be responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Leading user experience design activities in a multi-disciplinary agile delivery team in pre-discovery, discovery and design and delivery.   

  • Facilitating co-design workshops and interviews with system owners, business area, and end-users 

  • Creating user interface designs and interactive prototypes 

  • Developing wireframes and functional specifications 

  • Documenting user research findings and contribute to presenting concepts to business areas 

  • Promoting a user centric point of view and demonstrating creativity in interaction design

  • Building on the existing AEC Design System 

  • Collaborating with the Enabling team, including Agile Coaches and Service Designers, to continuously improve how the team delivers value to the business 

  • Being proactive in identifying areas of process/technology improvement/innovation

  • Managing and developing a productive working environment with the business and other stakeholders

Selection Criteria

  • You will have at least 5 years of UX/UI practice in a similar role 

  • Proven ability to work autonomously to deliver in a project and program environment 

  • Proven ability to work cohesively in a multi-disciplinary team to delivery shared goals 

  • Proven experience with running user testing/usability testing 

  • Strong conceptual and information design skills 

  • Strong experience with Figma, Miro and Adobe CC 

  • Experience in key areas of UX Design and its methodologies 

  • Understanding of the digital landscape, technologies, trends and key tools 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Creativity, flexibility and energy
